The Galapagos, When to Travel

Similar case to every foreign destination, Ecuador and surround provinces are affected by a distinct weather pattern, guiding its flow of tourism. What was intended to be an exotic getaway to the notorious yet relatively anonymous Galapagos Islands has the potential for disaster.

To those unfamiliar to Ecuador’s wet and dry seasons, planning a vacation and failing to invest the research is the difference between memorable and miserable. While inland Galapagos’ wet season is bearable and not nearly as incessant, the coastal areas tend to be a little less forgiving.

There is one theme shared by the two regions, however, January through April are months that should be abstained from unless you’re planning for a overcast and soppy vacation. Depending on preference- tepid or cool- most tourists to Ecuador and its provinces plan their travels between June and August, and December and January; these are the country’s, the Galapagos includes, driest months.

Weather, an integral element to any Ecuadorian vacations, is not, however, the only. Altitude is also deserving of keen consideration and choosing one over the other is a decision between summer and spring during any month of the year.

Where if you are visiting the inland, high-altitude regions of Ecuador, you can expect year-round highs of 24C (66F), in a coastal territory such as the Galapagos, daily highs can reach 86F. Planning a vacation by the tune of Ecuador’s irregular climatic beat is what keeps the country’s veteran travelers returning, Galapagos tours touring, and the stories of outlandish adventures alive and in circulation.

Author Enid Glasgow is a travel writer who enjoys Galapagos travel with Big Five custom vacations

Remark from Soren: According to recent information the month of April can be a very nice month to experience The Galapagos Islands. The sea is rather calm and the sky is clear and a lot of activity is going on in the animal world – what The Galapagos Islands are so famous for.

When people think of the best place to go on vacation, most think of taking a trip to the beach. There is nothing more relaxing than being a tourist and watching the water lap upon the sand. The kids can build sand castles while you kick back, relax and get some sun. But not all beaches have been created equal. Some are better than others. Here is a list of some of the best in beach options to keep in mind when choosing your accommodations:

1. Hawaii’s Polo Beach

If you want a sandy beach with amazing crystal clear water, this is the one for you. Many people always want to take a trip to Hawaii. Now you can while also seeing the best beach it has to offer. It’s a great swimming location and just in front of some great vacation accommodations on South Maui.

2. Jamaica’s Seven Mile Beach

In the area of Negril, Jamaica, this beach is literally what the name says, seven miles long, all beautiful white sand, and breathtaking views. You can literally sit under a coconut tree and watch the waves crash on the shore as the day just flows by. Nearby are a number of tourist spots that will have you feeling at home.

3. Bahamas’ Atlantis Paradise Beach

From amazing accommodations to the white beach sands that tourists pay good money for, this beach location has it all. You will be awestruck by the hotel, which offers it’s own water park, and you can take a short jaunt to be in the ocean.

4. Australia’s Heron Island

What more can you ask of a beach than a great place to relax? How about a great place to see a whole new world? This is what is offered at the Heron Island beach which is located on the Great Barrier Reef. You can snorkel or dive and see more marine life than you ever have before. There are over 20 spots just off shore where divers and snorkelers alike can take in the wonders of the underwater world.

5. Portugal’s Madiera Beach

This beach is right by the Reid’s Palace Hotel, but is not the white sandy beach you may think. Instead it is quite the opposite with sharp black rocks. The view is simply breathtaking and you will talk about it for years to come. You can still take a dip in the ocean or swim in the pools at the hotel while taking in the view.

6. Florida’s Miami Beach

You may even spot a few stars as you visit this beach, which is the one of the top places for the worlds top people to enjoy a little down time. On the beach, it’s white sand and beautiful waves and just across the street, a line of great restaurants, cafes, shops, and nightclubs.
